Obituary for Margilu Bongio Lyro

Margilu (Bongio) Lyro, 71, of St. Hedwig, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 17, 2018. Born October 24, 1946 in Houston, Texas to Robert “Bob” W. Bongio and Willie Merle “Bill” (Williams) Bongio, Marge, to all who knew her, was a unique and caring soul who touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a graduate of DuPont High School in 1964 and married Reginald Lyro on May 11, 1991.

Marge worked at and retired from the Bexar County Courthouse, where she was instrumental in developing the foundation of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Docket. Marge’s love of family was undeniable. She especially adored being “Memaw” and displayed no greater joy than when with her grandchildren. Her faith was strong, and she was a long-standing member of the Rosary Society at the Annunciation Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years, Reginald Lyro; her parents, Robert and Willie Merle Bongio; and brother, Louis Bongio. Her memory is left to be cherished by her children, James Wright and Deborah (Jeffrey) Akeroyd; stepchildren Suzanne (Kevin) Nobles and Ryan Lyro; grandchildren Brett, Jeremy, Sydney, Lauren, Bryson, and Kade; brother David (Ruth) Bongio and sister Cynthia (Tony) Coletta; and in-laws Delois “Bebe” (Robert) Fletcher, Lyman (Margorie) Lyro, and Arnold (Judy) Lyro. Marge will also be forever remembered by her numerous loving nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.

The family is humbled by the excellent care and compassion showed to Marge by all at Sodalis Senior Living and CIMA Hospice. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a Rosary Vigil recited at 7:00 pm at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, St. Hedwig. Interment will follow in the Annunciation BVM Catholic Cemetery, St. Hedwig.
