Thelma O’Neal Barnett, age 97, of Smiley, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 in San Antonio. Born November 9, 1921 in Gonzales County, Thelma was one of eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. A. W. and Birdie (Keith) O’Neal. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Rex H. Barnett; brothers, Bud, Wes, Floyd, Clebern and Emmitt O’Neal; sisters, Ola Ivey, Willie Goldman, Teresa Goldman and Estelle Brister; granddaughter, Kristen Barnett. Thelma is survived by her sons, Sammy Barnett (Lugene) and Keith Barnett (Nancy); daughter, Lynda Barnett (Robert Ximenes); sister, Evelyn Mutschler; grandchildren, Woody Roberts (Marilyn Persyn), Chad Barnett (Jessica Baker), Maggie Gonzales (Jeff), Jonathan Barnett (Katelynn), Kollin Barnett (Lauren), Tracey Key (Lizzy) and Kristine Key (Jordan Willey); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family. A visitation will take place Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at Finch Funeral Chapel, Nixon.
