Troy Lee Gibson was born on September 10, 1929 in Donie, Texas. He died in Gonzales, Texas on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the age of 89. Troy served as a deacon and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Nixon for over 20 years. He worked for AT&T (Southwestern Bell Telephone Company) for over 40 years, starting as a lineman and eventually serving as communications specialist for Lyndon Baines Johnson at the Texas White House near Stonewall, Texas.

Troy was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne Baker Gibson, on July 22, 2006; his parents, Marion Otis Gibson and Frankie Jane Evans Gibson; a brother, Melvin Gibson; and 4 sisters, Dessie Clute, Bonnie Clute, Bobbie Flowers, Cathey Greene; and numerous sister and brothers-in-law.

Troy is survived by his wife of 11 years, Beulah Riggs Gibson of Nixon; a brother, Robert Gibson of College Station, Texas; a sister, Nelda Feller and husband Orville of Waco; his daughters: Laura Gibson Johnson and husband Mike of Nixon; Lynda Gibson Grigar and husband Randy of Friendswood; his son, Troy Wayne Gibson of Nixon; his grandchildren: Cherise Casey and husband Joe of Katy, Kristin Johnson and husband Jason of Nixon, Kaci Perdue and husband Christopher of Alvin, Kylie Grigar of Friendswood; and three unofficially adopted daughters whom Troy and Yvonne helped raise: Karen Teas and husband Charles of Corpus Christi, Jeanne Wilcox of Coronado, California; and Judy Kurtz and husband Bob of Fayetteville; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and numerous other loving family.

A visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. A celebration of life will be held from 10-11am on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 403 North Texas Avenue, Nixon, TX. Burial will follow at the Bundick Cemetery in Smiley.
